It feels like spring around Preschool right now. We are loving those warm days on the playground and thankful for the FLC on those long rainy days. This is the season of fun special days. We made pancakes on Shove Tuesday and green eggs and ham on Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. March also brings one of my favorite days of the Preschool year. St. Patrick’s Day in Preschool is sooo fun. We always start with the true story of who Saint Patrick was and what he did for Christianity. We talk about all the fun traditions of Ireland. We make leprechaun traps and bait them with Lucky Charms and hunt for pots of gold. We talk about how Saint Patrick must have felt alone and afraid. We eat green grapes and lime sherbet and green cupcakes and we talk about how we can be good Christians, too. It’s not a big holiday like Christmas or Easter and parents don’t come, but it’s one of my favorite days. It’s one of the hundreds of ways we teach children how to blend the fun of traditions with the faith and truth of Christianity. It works and it is fun. People often ask...how can we help? Well here is an opportunity. We always find the pot of gold and it’s always filled with gold and silver wrapped candy. If you want a fun and easy way to help, simply bring us a bag of gold or silver wrapped candy. Please avoid candy with nuts. Thanks again for all your love and support.
