Why a Christian Preschool??
It's this time of year I start to look at numbers and classes and try to figure out how to make it all work. I admit, it can get a bit stressful sometimes. Our numbers in the past few years are lower than they have been in years past. Our public school system has added more and more opportunities for four year olds. So why Christian Preschool? More and more moms work full time and there are more and more secular day cares that offer wonderful care and good academic programs. So why Christian Preschool? Christian Preschools are non-profit; we count on tuition and those wonderful people that tithe to operate. We can't pay rent or upkeep and we do use church resources. So…. Why Christian Preschool? Well it's because of what God tells us. Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord and 2 Timothy talks about learning scripture from infancy and how that early learning leads to Salvation! We all know the story in Matthew where Jesus calls the children to him, and probably the strongest scripture has to be Proverbs 22:6: Start children off the way they will go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it! That's why we need a Christian Preschool! Our children are so little, they can't read the verses from the Bible and they rarely remember much about preschool even a year or two later. We, however, plant seeds. Seeds that may lie dormant for years, seeds that might grow slowly, and sadly even some seeds that will fall on rocky ground or be taken over by weeds, but still we plant. We have had children from beautiful Christian families when the children were in church every Sunday. We have also had children who come from Buddhist homes, un-churched families and even homes with un-believers. We planted the same seed in all those children. We know that family has a huge influence on the child's faith, so we plant seeds in the hearts of these parents. We have had un-churched preschool families join CUMC. I have had preschool families follow me to my church, and I have helped parents that had not been to church in many years find a church family at a local church where they are comfortable to raise their children. That's why a Christian Preschool!!! As we start back to school, please pray the prayer I always pray for our school: that Christ will send each child that needs us, to us. As we go into this year, we are grateful for prayers, for those that include us in their tithes, and those that are able to assist us by providing a few of the items on our supply list. Please continue to share the word that your church has a Christian Preschool and share with these young families, “Why a Christian Preschool!”
