Evangelism

Have you ever wondered what Evangelism really is?  Is it just making local visits to our neighborhoods and handing out flyers?  Or, one might think of television evangelists that spread the Good News.  By Websters definition, evangelism is "the spreading of Christianity, especially through the activities of evangelists".  But there is so much more to evangelism than you might think.  Here's a deeper look into the core of evangelism.  To get at the heart of what Evangelism is really all about, I want you to ponder the following questions:
  • What hopes do you believe people in our community have about their community and their faith?  How do these relate to living as Christian disciples and good neighbors?
  • What might help people understand more about how the Bible and the Christian faith as being a resource for daily living?
  • Who are the people in our community who are "left out" and /or ignored?  Who has not been touched by the gospel?
  • What new programs can a our church sponsor that might reach these people?
Think about these questions.  The answers to these question may be to many to count, but those answers are what Evangelism is all about.  Has someone tried to reach you? If you are a Christian, do you remember who gave you that gentle nudge or guidance to seek Christ?

Our Primary Task

Our goal as the Evangelism Team is to help our church reach out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ and receives them into its care so that they may develop a relationship with God and live as Christian disciples.

A Look at What We Do

  • To work directly with the pastor and the church council to make evangelism a vital part of our congregation's ministry.
  • To care for the members of our congregation; to help all know and respond to the love of God in Christ.
  • To set goals for congregational growth and to plan specific evangelistic events and missions.
  • To develop and carry out programs of membership care, including plans for growth in devotional life.
  • To learn about recommended programs and resources that assist our church in its ministry of evangelism.
