Girl Scout Troop 1434 meets at Christ United Methodist Church two Sundays a month from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. We currently have five Daisy Scouts, eight Brownie Scouts, eight Junior Scouts, two Cadet Scouts, three volunteer moms, and four leader moms. Of those scouting girls, six Brownies will be bridging to Juniors and four Juniors will be bridging to Cadets. For the 2008 – 2009 scouting year, we have participated in events at Patterson’s Farm, Old Salem, and Catawba College. Additionally, we have taken part in Thinking Day, Scouting for the Cure, Thanksgiving in a Box, Pinwheels for Peace, Santa’s Workshop, Sight Nite, Stockings for Children, Girl Scout cookie sales, and can tab collection for Ronald McDonald House. For fun, we have gone to the circus and watched the Charlotte 49er women wipe up the basketball floor with their opponent! Our theme this year is “Go Green.” We have incorporated that into our sleepover and the Bronze Award our Juniors are earning.
The girls and the leaders are having a great time at each meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us. We are always accepting new scouts and more volunteers are always appreciated.
