Our Missions Team seeks out opportunities to improve the lives of our church family and our surrounding community. Many of our missions projects focus on collecting items such as shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child to creating Love Bags for the homeless. We also love to help improve the landscapes and interiors of homes in disrepair. Please contact the church if you or someone you know could use our help in completing a need or repair in our community.
MISSIONS TEAM NEWS
When I look at the past years of our church and think about where our strengths lie, I always think about the first mission trip I went on. As I remember it was at least 20 years ago, when the Tar River flooded the town Tarboro, NC. Twenty of our church members went to Tarboro and I gained a new love for the work and the people of our congregation. Some of us are still at Christ UMC, like Mary Davis, Phil Wietbrock and O. L. Beaver. Names may have changed, but the mission to help others has always been the same. “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John 15:8. We as a church have always been ready to lend a helping hand. If you want to take on a new challenge of service for others, this is the place for a wonderful opportunity.
Mission Trip to Plymouth, NC
Our team will be going back to Plymouth, NC, July 22-27. This will be our third trip to this area of North Carolina. C.R.O.S.S. (Christians Reaching Out in Sacred Service) Ministries has been a wonderful and rewarding mission and the people’s lives we touched has such a great feeling. The work can be hot and dirty, but at the end of the day we have done the work Jesus instructed us to do. Prayerfully consider going, as we not only need workers, we also have a need for cooks. So there is something for everyone to do. If you are not able to go or think you can’t help, consider giving to the mission team to help with the cost for others. The cost is $200 per person. This includes lodging and food for all. Scholarships may be available for those who can’t afford to pay. Contact Bob Blake or Bruce Shuping for more information. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the Sanctuary. We will have our final meeting July 18th in the Family Life Center immediately following the Wednesday meal. At this meeting, we will discuss all subjects about this trip which will include what to take and things not to take on the trip. You should have your money ready at that time or already arranged for a scholarship.
Habitat for Humanity
In September, we will be embarking on a new opportunity for us. We will be working together with First United Methodist Church and Milford Hills United Methodist to build a Habitat House for a much deserving family here in Salisbury. More information to follow as we get more information.

ROWAN HELPING MINISTRIES –
Putting God’s Love Into Action
There are opportunities to help Rowan Helping Ministries in many different areas: Reception Desk; Interviewer; Clothing Center; Food Pantry; USDA Food Packing; Loading Dock; 2nd Helping Driver; Meal prep and serving. You can volunteer as an individual or go as a group. Our church provides meals at RHM four times a year. You are always welcome to bring canned and dry good food donations for RHM. We have a bin in the back of the sanctuary for this purpose.
CAPSTONE RECOVERY CENTER –
Capstone Recovery Center is a Christian women’s rehab center started right here in Salisbury few years ago. Capstone is impacting lives for Jesus Christ. Capstone is helping women get clean and that is changing the lives of their families and loved ones. Consider getting involved with them.
Capstone Recovery Center is in constant need of paper goods, canned food, dry-goods, hygiene items, ladies clothing, wholesome books, instructional videos and tapes. Please donate to this mission if at all possible. Please bring the items to church and put in the Capstone tote at the back of the sanctuary.
COMMUNITY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: The Missions Team completed work on a porch, bathroom, and laundry room in the home of a CUMC member's home.
